Major Accidents Ordinance (12. BImSchV)
An establishment falls within the scope of the 12th BImSchV (StörfallV) if the hazardous substances present in the establishment within the meaning of the StörfallV fulfill the criteria of Annex I of the StörfallV.
We support you in checking the applicability of the StörfallV to your business, whether as part of an inspection ordered by the authorities, an application for a permit or independently of this for your internal documents.
Safety inspections
according to § 29a BImSchG
In accordance with § 29a BImSchG, the authorities can order safety inspections for installations or plants requiring approval within an operating area in accordance with § 3 (5a) BImSchG.
We are happy to offer you these safety inspections.
Distance reports and impact assessments
e.g. according to KAS-18, § 50 BImSchG
Impact assessments of various scenarios, such as the release of substances, fires or explosions, are relevant in a wide variety of areas of plant safety. We calculate and evaluate the spread and impact of these scenarios for you.
Concept for the prevention of major accidents
according to § 8 StörfallV
Operators of operating areas in accordance with § 3 (5a) BImSchG must draw up a concept for the prevention of major accidents in accordance with § 8 StörfallV before commissioning.
The implementation of the concept is ensured by a safety management system in accordance with Annex III of the Major Accidents Ordinance (12th BImSchV).
Safety report
according to § 9 StörfallV
Operators of upper-tier operating areas are obliged to prepare a safety report in accordance with Section 9 of the Major Accidents Ordinance before commissioning.
Information for the public
according to § 8a and § 11 StörfallV
Establishments pursuant to § 3 (5a) BImSchG are obliged to make certain information available to the public. This information is specified in Annex V of the Major Accidents Ordinance. For upper-tier establishments, more extensive information must also be made available to the public in accordance with Article 11.
We would be happy to prepare the necessary documents for you to inform the public in accordance with Sections 8a and 11 of the Major Accidents Ordinance.
Classification of residual substances
within the meaning of the Major Accidents Ordinance (12th BImSchV)
Waste (residual substances) must be assigned to the most similar hazard category or the most similar named substance in accordance with the Major Accidents Ordinance in terms of their major-accident potential.
The KAS-61 guideline provides both a general assessment option and the option of classification with detailed knowledge. However, as the blanket classifications are necessarily conservative, it is often worth classifying your waste fractions using detailed knowledge. We would be happy to classify your waste for assessment in accordance with the Hazardous Incident Ordinance.
