Explosion protection
Whether in the chemical, pharmaceutical or general process industry, handling hazardous substances is part of everyday business. Quite a few of them are capable of forming a hazardous explosive atmosphere. This includes flammable liquids and gases as well as combustible dusts. We are happy to offer you the following services:

Water protection
Many of the hazardous substances handled in day-to-day operations are hazardous to water. It is not only the storage rooms for these substances that usually constitute facilities within the meaning of the AwSV, but also the other associated facilities for manufacturing, treatment and use as well as filling and handling. The requirements of the AwSV must therefore be met. We are happy to offer you the following services:

Hazardous incident law
For larger chemical companies in particular, hazardous incidents legislation is part of their daily business. However, smaller companies can also fall within the scope of the Major Accidents Ordinance (12th BImSchV). We are happy to offer you the following services:
- Safety inspections in accordance with § 29a BImSchG
- Distance reports and impact assessments
- Preparation and testing of concepts for the prevention of major accidents in accordance with § 8 StörfallV
- Preparation and review of safety reports in accordance with Section 9 of the Major Accidents Ordinance

Approval procedure according to BImSchG
As part of the construction or significant modification of plants requiring approval under immission control legislation, various expert opinions on plant safety are usually also required. We are happy to offer you the following services:
Explosion protection document
according to § 6 (9) GefStoffV
According to § 6 (9) GefStoffV, you as the operator are obliged to consider explosion hazards separately in a risk assessment. If these cannot be excluded in principle, e.g. because flammable substances are handled, you are obliged to prepare an explosion protection document.
We offer you the preparation of explosion protection documents in accordance with § 6 (9) GefStoffV, taking into account the current legal situation and the state of the art.
Plants in planning
Preliminary explosion protection documentation
If your system is still in the planning phase, we recommend that you include explosion protection in the planning at an early stage. We will be happy to advise you here and offer to draw up a preliminary explosion protection document that can be converted into an explosion protection document once the system has been installed.
Training courses
within the meaning of § 12 BetrSichV
As an operator of systems requiring monitoring in accordance with Annex 2 Section 3 BetrSichV - systems with explosion risks - you are obliged to instruct your employees on the activity-related explosion hazards at least once a year in accordance with Section 12 BetrSichV.
We offer training for your employees that is tailored to your plant. In our training courses, your employees will not only learn the basic principles of explosion protection, they will also be trained on the specific hazards in your plant based on your explosion protection document.

Suitability assessment
Expert opinion in accordance with Section 41 AwSV
According to § 63 WHG, the suitability of facilities for storage, filling and handling (LAU facilities) must be determined before construction and operation as well as after significant changes.
We will be happy to provide you with the relevant reports for submission to the competent authority.
Suitability assessment
Expert opinion in accordance with Section 42 AwSV
As part of the suitability assessment in accordance with Section 63 WHG, authorities may require the submission of an additional water protection expert opinion from an AwSV expert.
We will be happy to support you in communicating with the authorities to clarify the scope of the expert opinion and prepare the required expert opinion for submission to the authority responsible for you.
Plant documentation
according to § 43 AwSV
According to § 43 AwSV, as the operator of an AwSV plant you are obliged to keep plant documentation.
We will be happy to support you in preparing your documentation by providing sample templates, checking for completeness or preparing a complete register.
Inspections
according to § 47 AwSV
Systems that fall within the scope of the AwSV must be inspected by an expert within the meaning of the AwSV in accordance with Section 47 AwSV.

Classification of residual substances
according to § 29a BImSchG
In accordance with § 29a BImSchG, the authorities can order safety inspections for systems or installations requiring approval within an operating area in accordance with § 3 (5a) BImSchG.
We are happy to offer you these safety inspections.
Distance reports and impact assessments
i. a. according to KAS-18, § 50 BImSchG
Impact assessments of various scenarios, such as the release of substances, fires or explosions, are relevant in a wide variety of areas of plant safety. We calculate and evaluate the spread and impact of these scenarios for you.
Concept for the prevention of incidents
according to § 8 StörfallV
Operators of operating areas in accordance with § 3 (5a) BImSchG must draw up a concept for the prevention of major accidents in accordance with § 8 StörfallV before commissioning.
The implementation of the concept is ensured by a safety management system in accordance with Annex III of the Major Accidents Ordinance (12th BImSchV).
Security report
according to § 9 StörfallV
Operators of operating areas in the upper classes are obliged to prepare a safety report in accordance with § 9 of the Major Accidents Ordinance before commissioning.
Information for the public
according to § 8a and § 11 StörfallV
Operating areas in accordance with § 3 (5a) BImSchG are obliged to make certain information available to the public. This information is specified in Annex V of the Major Accidents Ordinance. For upper-tier establishments, more extensive information must also be made available to the public in accordance with § 11.
We will be happy to prepare the necessary documents for you to inform the public in accordance with Sections 8a and 11 of the Major Accidents Ordinance.
Classification of residual materials
i. as defined by the Major Accidents Ordinance (12. BImSchV)
For the purposes of the Major Accidents Ordinance, waste (residual substances) must be assigned to the most similar hazard category or the most similar named substance in accordance with the Major Accidents Ordinance.
The KAS-61 guideline provides both a general assessment option and the option of classification with detailed knowledge. However, as the blanket classifications are necessarily conservative, it is often worth classifying your waste fractions using detailed knowledge. We would be happy to classify your waste for assessment in accordance with the Hazardous Incident Ordinance.
Applicability test
Major Accidents Ordinance (12. BImSchV)
An establishment falls within the scope of the 12th BImSchV (StörfallV) if the hazardous substances present in the establishment within the meaning of the StörfallV fulfill the criteria of Annex I of the StörfallV.
We will check your information as part of a permit application. We are also happy to support you in advance with the preparation of the application documents for the applicability of the StörfallV.
Explosion protection
Explosion protection is an important test point in the assessment of possible operational malfunctions and the associated technical and organizational measures.
Plant-related water protection (AwSV)
The “Checklist for application documents in immission control approval procedures” must be used for approval procedures in Bavaria. Chapter 12.4 contains the information for facilities for handling substances hazardous to water in accordance with § 62 WHG.
